There are two ways to handle shutting down a client's AWS account.

There are two ways to handle shutting down a client's AWS account.

The good way is to have a separate ADMIN and PRODUCTION/TENANT account to begin with. This is the way advocated by [[https://learn.cantrill.io/|Adrian Cantrill]] and is a best practice.

The inherited way, which most of my entrepreneurial clients deal with, is to find all the services and shut them down, one by one.

I work with clients across cloud providers, so I forget how to see "All the things" in AWS until I need to do so. But here's my current goto trick:

  • Open the AWS Console
  • Go to Resource Groups > Tag Editor
  • Select All regions & resources
  • Voila! All the things in your AWS acct.
