My hot take is that the ability to define the tools, prompts and evals as a "package" is the next evolution of production agents.

• 2023 — LLM + prompt engineering
• 2024 — LLM + RAG + schema-based tool use
• 2025 — LLM + MCP + multi-turn (tasks+memory) + evals
• 2026 — LLM + packaged skills (composable combos of the above) + progressive disclosure (context management)
